Student Resource: Academic Coaching Groups Now Available!

Naropa now offers Academic Coaching Groups!

What is an Academic Coaching Group?

An Academic Coaching Group is a collaborative, instructive conversation and learning group, focused on goal setting, deepening awareness of students’ strengths and challenges, taking action to reach academic goals, and maintaining accountability. Students in the group will benefit from the peer learning through discussion and problem-solving with others, and can gain insight into their own experiences by way of the collective knowledge and strategies of the group.

Each week, the group meeting is centered around an anchoring theme that will guide the focus of the session (based on the general needs of the group), such as procrastination, over-scheduling, stress, or self-care. Group members are given the opportunity to hear other students’ experiences of similar difficulties, as well as a variety of perspectives on how to work with these difficulties. The group members can also work to integrate the weekly themes and discussions into their overall goals for the semester.

When are the ACP Groups held?

9:30 — 11:00 AM (Group #1) and 5:00 — 6:30 PM (Group #2)

Student Resource: Find Writing Support at the Naropa Writing Center!

The Naropa Writing Center (NWC) would like to welcome you to the spring semester! As you settle into the rhythm of your courses and start planning your semester, we would like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about this free academic service.

The Naropa Writing Center provides one-on-one writing support to all Naropa community members. We are happy to work with you at any stage in your writing process, from brainstorming to drafting, revision to citation review. Rather than functioning as an editing service, our goal is to support the development and refinement of your writing skills. Writing Fellows may make recommendations and act as guides in the process of writing development; however, the final decision concerning your writing remains in your hands.

Location (Primary):

The Learning Commons–2nd floor of Wulsin Hall, Arapahoe Campus

Hours of Operation:

Monday-Thursday, 10 AM — 5 PM

Friday, 10 AM — 2 PM

NWC Open Hours:

Monday-Wednesday 4 PM — 5 PM

This semester we are excited to introduce NWC Open Hours. Our Open Hours format allows writers to come work in the writing center in a dedicated study environment. A Writing Fellow will be on-call to answer quick questions and check in on writers as they work. We have implemented this pilot program based on feedback from writers. If you don’t need an appointment for a specific writing goal, but would like to benefit from the NWC’s environment and resources, these Open Hours are for you!
